best hosting company

I see many new bloggers, go for all these poor hosting so-called “best hosting companies in Nigeria” or even free hosting platform, Just to cut cost.

The first thing that comes to my mind is what I call “Pennywise, Pound Foolish”.

Although, many wannabes choose to take that part due to ignorant. But you see, ignorant is not an excuse, the difference will surely be clear in no distant time.

Most of the Web hosting Companies in Nigeria are mostly resellers.  They buy reseller accounts from these cheap low-quality foreign hosting companies and resell it back to us.

But one thing I keep asking myself is why won’t they buy this reseller hosting packages from credible quality hosting companies.

The answer is simple, They want to make a huge profit at the detriment of ignorant newbies.

My Experience With One Of The So-Called No1. Web Hosting Company In Nigeria

I had a project, early this year.

To create a donation website for an orphanage home.

But due to it was just like I was almost executing the project for free because they could not provide up to 30% of the total funds needed.

And at that same time, I have made large expenses.

So I was really not that financially buoyant. I needed to cut cost, to ensure that I don’t go into bankruptcy. Lol.

I was in a search for a bit of upgrade, compared to that of the foreign hosting company. I searched online for reviews to ensure that I go for the best.

Finally, I came across this so call company that called themselves the No1. best hosting company in Africa, I will not mention any names. They had the highest positive reviews, compared to the others that I saw.

I  then decided to try them out. I bought both the domain name and hosting account from them, for a year period.

I installed WordPress, installed the necessary plus needed for the site to function well, did Some basic SEO optimization, customized it to their taste, and integrated donation payment processor.

Then after a week of completing the site, I noticed that the loading speed of the site was really fantastically bad.

I know that it takes just 2-3 second for a good server to load up. But their’s  took up to 30-40 seconds, almost a minute. Am not exaggerating this.

Which is very bad for a prospective donor that doesn’t have the luxury of time and patient.

I checked the site speed to know if the clitch is from my end using google page speed checker.

But, everything was ok on my end.

I contacted them by email to know why my site is not loading fast, they did not reply to my email until after 8 hours, saying that their server is ok and I should check mine for some plugins or large images that can make the loading speed of the site slow.

Which I later did, but the tools that I used to check is was giving me a passive result.

I later ignored it, due to I was very occupied at that moment.

Three days after that, the site went offline totally. For almost a week.

Just to get a mail from them saying that, they where doing some upgrade to their systems hardware, for that reason, they will be migrating a certain batch of account to another server which I was included.

Along the way, they encountered some technical issues. And that we should exercise patients blah blah blah…

Now, imagine if the site was about to rank or is already ranking on the search engine.

Do you know the amount of effect that downtime could cost such a site? The site’s ranking positions will definitely drop.

Finally, I had no other choice than to later migrate the site to a foreign hosting company. Which resulted in spending more money, while trying to cut down cost. “PENNY WISE, POUND FOOLISH”.
